eliot blackmoore (poems)

Eliot Blackmoore, a 5th grader at The New City School in St. Louis, wrote this poem in last year’s City Parks summer poetry camp, a week of afternoon poetry writing at local libraries.

His bio statement is given by way of another poem, “Where I’m From,” in which he says, “I am from bookshelves, from Monopoly, and long dark basements./I am from old rusty tools left out in the rain./” &“I am from late night hands of cards and the golden hours raised by afternoons./I am from aunts and uncles and grandparents.” & “I’m from Missouri and Foxford, fruits and vegetables./From the broke-my-leg story, and the dog-on-the-table story.”

“SPACE” is Eliot’s first publication.
